If you store these in a can or airtight container & in a cool dark place dried beans are known to last for over 30 years at 80% flavor. While not indefinite on flavor, 30 years is a good long time. Sunlight and heat will shorten the shelf life of beans.
Corn Starch
Keep dry & airtight & it will never expire. Great for puddings, gravies & thickening sauces,.

Ghee by Wikipedia
Ghee Ghee is a type of clarified butter invented and used mostly in South Asian countries such as India and Bangladesh. It is made through boiling and stirring butter until the water has evaporated and all that's left are milk solids at the bottom and clarified butter at the top. The two are separated, and then the ghee gets jarred and sealed. When made correctly, it needs no refrigeration and lasts hundreds of years. It has been found -- still edible -- in tombs. Ghee is very popular around the world for daily cooking use.
Hard Liquor
While taste & color may change over time, distilled spirits such as vodka, rum, gin, whiskey and much more will be safe to drink until the end of time.
Honey
Honey will never spoil, it may crystallize over time but warming it up will bring back its form. They found some in King tuts tomb and it was still safe to consume. Thank you bees!
Powdered Milk
Powdered milk is known to stay good for ever just as long as it is in an original, airtight package. If it turns yellow then it has spoiled. Everyone should have this in their preps.

Pure Vanilla Extract
Store in a cool dark cupboard in an air tight container because this stuff keeps for ever.
Rice
As long as you keep it free of pests & contaminates White, jasmine wild, basmati & arborio rice all have an indefinite shelf life. The exception is brown rice as it has a higher oil content. Store in a cool dry area. Once opened restock in an airtight container.
Salt (Mineral)

Sugar
White, brown or powedered sugar will stay good indefinitely. To keep it from hardening store it in an airtight container away from the sun. The reason sugar will never expire is because it does not promote bacteria growth of any kind.

ReplyDeleteThere are a few other items if vacuum packed like a seal a meal or mylar bags can last a very long time....unground whole dried spice berries like: allspice, nutmeg, black pepper, clove bud, cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans etc. There may be more than I have listed but these I have had longer in whole form and they last 5-10 years and I have personally seen viable cloves lasted 30+ years only kept in a lidded glass jar in a garage.
